Il y a 75 ans: Libération d’Ettelbruck

Program

On May 8, 1945, the guns finally fell silent in Europe. With the surrender of the German “Wehrmacht”, an almost 5-year Nazi reign with millions of dead had come to an end.
Not forgotten, however, was the suffering that the Hitler regime had brought to large parts of Europe.

To prevent this tragedy from falling into oblivion, after 75 years Ettelbruck commemorates, on 21 and 22 September 2019, the twofold liberation of our homeland and the city of Ettelbruck.
With the support of the municipality of Ettelbruck, the Patton Museum/Groupe de Recherches et d’Etudes sur la Guerre 1940-1945 commemorates on these two days the liberation of their city on September 11 and December 25, 1944 by American troops.

The December liberation brought the desired freedom. For which Ettelbruck remains grateful to the American nation. The commemoration ceremonies are held under the patronage of the American embassy in Luxembourg.
